COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - On Wednesday, The U.S. House of Representatives is in session for the first time in 54 days, 43 of which have been during the longest government shutdown in history.

The shutdown could come to an end as soon as Wednesday night according to several republican lawmakers including Colorado Congressman Jeff Crank and House Speaker Mike Johnson. The shutdown would end if the house approves a funding package and President Trump signs it.

It’s expected to take a few days for federal workers to receive back pay, including TSA workers, air traffic controllers and civilian employees for the Department of Defense. It should also take a few days for SNAP benefits to return to normal with payments going out, all according to Congressman Crank who spoke with 11 News ah
