FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A Fort Wayne native recently won gold with Team USA Sitting Volleyball.
From Oct. 31 to Nov. 9, Cami Wood was in Santiago, Chile, for the 2025 Youth Parapan American Games. The 15-year-old was one of four American players under the age of 21 selected to compete.
Team USA beat Brazil 2-1 (20-25, 25-23, 26-24) in the Gold Medal match for the win. Wood was also named the MVP and Best Attacker in the tournament.
Wood had her left leg amputated when she was 7 years old and wears a prosthetic.
Locally, she plays varsity high school volleyball at Blackhawk Christian, club volleyball at Empowered Volleyball Academy, and adaptive sitting volleyball at Turnstone.
