GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The freedom to express their identity is something many in the LGBTQ community are fighting for, says community member Hunter Black.
“We have to be who we are, and whether that is reflected on a piece of paper, that can’t stop you from being your true self,” Black says.
But he feels the government is trying to limit that expression. With the recent Supreme Court decision to enforce the Trump administration’s blocking of passport sex markers, Black says it feels like a personal attack.
Now, non-binary and transgender people will be unable to choose the sex on their passport that aligns with their gender identity.
