CALERA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The age of a first-time homebuyer is the oldest it has ever been, according to the National Association of Realtors.
The median age is now 40 years old.
While money is tight for many families, area realtors say with a plan, the dream of homeownership can still become a reality.
“A down payment looks completely different here than it does where we are coming from,” said 27-year-old Josh Marvin.
Marvin and his family of three live in Troy.
By the start of the new year, they plan to be in the Birmingham area, considering they secure a place to live for a reasonable price.
“If I was going to be renting until I’m 44, like making rent payments that long and it really just not furthering me and my family like financially, that’s just very hard to think about,” Ma
