AVONDALE, Ariz. — A West Valley food bank is finally seeing some relief since helping a record number of people last week. It came after SNAP benefits froze because of the Federal Government shutdown. Officials with the Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank say they had never seen anything like it in their 30-year history.
"We're seeing needs we've never seen before," Executive Director Leanne Leonard said.
After a historic week, the line at the Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank is starting to go down.
"I've been here for ten years as Director and we thought things got crazy at COVID when so many people were out of work, but our numbers that we've been seeing have been even higher," Leonard said.
Even as a possible end to the Government Shutdown nears, there's still plenty of worry.
