A manhunt has been launched for eight protesters after rocks, rotten fruit and glass bottles were thrown at police during a violent counter-demonstration in the Melbourne CBD last month.
Two officers were injured after being attacked by counter-protesters opposed to an anti-immigration demonstration on October 19.
Victoria Police Acting Commander Wayne Cheesman said those responsible were “cowards” and that Melbourne had “had a gutful”.
He also dumped a box of rocks thrown at officers on the floor as he delivered an impassioned press conference condemning the clashes.
Now police are looking to bring those responsible to justice.
