San Antonio District 8 showed appreciation for federal employees affected by the government shutdown by partnering with a local restaurant to provide free meals on Wednesday.
With the help of Pasha Mediterranean Grill, more than 100 TSA officers and air traffic control staff were treated to a free meal.
“This was just our way of giving back,” District 8 Councilwoman Ivalis Meza Gonzalez said. “We know our federal employees have gone through a lot this last month and a half, and so we were trying to figure out what to do.”
On Wednesday night, the House passed a bill to end the nation’s longest government shutdown, sending the measure to President Donald Trump.
