The soccer programs at Columbia River hold themselves to a sky-high standard. So much so, that after a lopsided win like Wednesday’s, the Rapids still found plenty of things to work on.

No. 1 seed River opened the Class 2A girls soccer state playoffs with a 5-0 win over No. 16 East Valley of Spokane on Wednesday at John O’Rourke Field, getting two goals from Makayla Hundt and one apiece from Remi Buckley, Harper Lapinskas and Keke Mabini.

The Rapids advanced to the quarterfinals where they will face No. 8 East Valley of Yakima, a 2-1 winner over Steilacoom. They know they’re in for tougher challenges from here on out, saying as much in their post-game meeting, after finding out their opponent.
