During its undefeated season, the Seton Catholic girls team won 13 consecutive games by at least four goals.

And there was a nine-game stretch in which the Cougars outscored opponents 64-0 — or an average of 7-0.

But then back-to-back battles in the district playoffs taught the Cougars that they can’t wait around to make something happen.

“I think something that separates us for a lot of other teams is our drive to win,” senior Hailey Herboth said. “What we kind of took away from our last game against Montesano is that we really want to win, and we show it on the field. And I think that’s going to carry on into later games.”

It certainly carried into the Cougars’ first-round state playoff against Wahluke on Wednesday.
