Manslaughter charges brought against a Queensland couple after the death of their toddler from a rare genetic disorder have been dropped by police.
Three-year-old Penelope Campbell died in Townsville on July 7, 2022, a day after falling sick and vomiting at daycare.
Her parents, Jack and Breannon Campbell, were facing manslaughter charges, which were dismissed in Townsville Magistrates Court on Thursday.
A two-day committal hearing was told the couple had not been made aware that the disorder, M-CAD deficiency, could be deadly.
Police prosecutor Sam Stewart told the committal hearing he could not continue "in good faith", after hearing evidence from three medical witnesses.
