PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Flight cancellations at Peoria International Airport have increased to 11-14% from last Friday through Tuesday as the 43-day government shutdown continues, airport officials said.
The House is expected to vote Wednesday evening to reopen the government, with the White House saying President Trump is ready to sign legislation.
At General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport , Director of Airports Gene Olson said the cancellation rate is significantly higher than the airport’s typical rate of less than 1% and above the national average of 4%, which is expected to reach around 6-10% by the end of the week if there is no deal. The week prior, the airport received no flight cancellations from the Federal Aviation Administration.
