CLEVELAND, Ohio — ESPN host Paul Finebaum is nearing a decision to leave the network and enter politics, with a potential U.S. Senate run in Alabama on the horizon, according to Front Office Sports .

The sports commentator, who has no political experience, is considering running as a Republican but plans to wait until after the college football season wraps up before making a final call.

With the national championship game scheduled for Jan. 19, an announcement could come in late January or early February, the report stated.

Finebaum revealed what drove him toward politics in a Sept. 29 interview with Outkick , pointing to the death of political activist Charlie Kirk as a pivotal moment.
