The main accused and terrorist in the car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi was Dr. Umar un Nabi. He was present in the car at the time of the blast. Investigation teams found Umar's teeth, bones, pieces of blood-stained clothes, and a part of his foot stuck between the steering wheel and the accelerator from the car. Umar's DNA has matched his mother's DNA.

Before detonating the car, Umar was seen with the car five times. However, at that time, no investigating agency suspected him. He roamed fearlessly on the streets of Delhi. Sometimes he went to a mosque, sometimes he visited Connaught Place. Before the blast, he sat in the parking lot near the Red Fort for three hours.
