MCKINLEY — A man was airlifted with life-threatening injuries after an apparent all-terrain vehicle crash on the Iron Range on Wednesday night.

According to a news release from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, authorities were dispatched to Grand Avenue in McKinley Township at 10:15 p.m. on a report of a man with severe trauma lying next to an ATV.

Responders arrived to the scene and found a 40-year-old man from rural Gilbert in a semi-responsive state on the ground next to his ATV. Individuals at the scene indicated the man was traveling alone but did not see the crash. Friends located the man as they returned from watching aurora together nearby.
