Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Unity March in Nilgiri, Balasore, marking the nationwide celebration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary.
He described Nilgiri as the land of people’s strength and democratic spirit.
The march began from Nilgiri and continued to Mitrapur, covering nine kilometres. Thousands of students, youth, citizens, and government officials joined the procession. Students carried a 100‑foot tricolour flag, symbolising unity and patriotism.
Before the march, Majhi offered prayers at Jagannath Temple and visited a photo exhibition on Balasore’s role in the freedom struggle and Patel’s life. Addressing a public gathering, he said the Unity March represents Indian identity and the duty of citizens to keep the nation united.
