'Grandad waited 14 hours in A&E - we had to bring in a camp bed' View 4 Images

A family was forced to bring a camp bed in for an 83-year-old grandad during an 14 hour wait in A&E. George Morris, who suffers from a heart condition and feared he had potential sepsis, was unable to sit on a 'hard plastic chair' provided by the hospital during his lengthy wait.

Instead he had to rely on his own family bringing a camping bed to lie on at Hairmyres Hospital. His family has described the scene as 'shameless' and also had brought him fresh water and a hot water bottle to try and make him comfortable.

His daughter, Mandy Morris, said: "It was an absolutely shameful scene. At 4am I had to take up a camp bed after over 14 hours of waiting to be seen despite being referred by a GP to get admitted
