FLINT, MI -- Attorneys for the city and a bicyclist who suffered a traumatic brain injury after he was hit by a speeding Flint police cruiser in 2020 are expected to select a jury on Thursday, Nov. 13, after failing to settle a lawsuit brought by the man’s guardian.
Flint City Council members granted City Attorney JoAnne Gurley the authority to settle the case for up to $3 million in September, but talks haven’t produced an agreement, and Genesee Circuit Judge B. Chris Christenson heard a barrage of pre-trial motions in advance of the trial on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Christenson also reviewed two videos that figure to loom large in the trial -- one from a police dashcam and another recorded by the camera of a business in the area on the night of the accident.
