HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Here are the four stories you need to know for November 13, 2025.
Shutdown Solved
The federal government is open again Thursday morning after the House passed a stopgap funding bill Wednesday night and the president signed it shortly after.
The reopening is having real-world impacts with more services becoming available and furloughed federal employees returning with backpay. For people on the Affordable Care Act, the reopening could mean their health insurance costs will more than double because the bill does not guarantee an extension of expiring subsidies. Nebraska Representative Mike Flood said, “After more than 40 days, the Democrat shutdown is finally over.” SNAP benefits should be available again soon.
