MONROE, La. (KNOE) - On Nov. 13, 1982, the Vietnam War Memorial opened on the National Mall.
It has two 200 foot long sections of black granite that are etched with the names of more than 58,000 men and women who died in the war or are still missing.
Faces of visitors are reflected in the wall.
Friends and family can look up their loved ones in the directory.
Two different statues pay tribute to the soldiers and nurses who served.
