Major supermarket Aldi has revealed plans to open 16 new stores across the country in the run up to this Christmas .

The openings will take place over the next four weeks, with the last store expected to be completed by Friday, December 12.

As part of the plans, the north west is also expected to see the opening of a new store at Litherland, in Merseyside , and another in Cheadle .

The announcement comes after Aldi revealed a list of its 'required locations' for new stores with ten locations in the north west listed for new sites, including West Didsbury , Bradshaw and Wigan .
