The Met Office has issued an amber alert ahead of Storm Claudia's arrival, a rare weather warning that presents a danger to life".
It was the Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) that named the storm which is on its way to deluge England and Wales.
The effects of the storm are expected to peak on Friday (November 14), with heavy rain forecasts across huge swathes of the country.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert said, “Storm Claudia will bring very heavy rainfall to a large swathe of central and southern England and Wales on Friday into Saturday.
"This rain will become slow moving, and some areas could see up to a month’s worth of rain in 24 hours.
