More rain and wind is headed toward the eastern portion of the island in two separate waves – one this afternoon and through this evening and another coming tomorrow.

Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says today’s system will bring between 15 and 30 mm of rain to parts of the island from about Clarenville east including the Avalon, Burin and Bonavista Peninsulas.

Central Newfoundland through to the west coast and southeastern Labrador can expect snowfall. While accumulations aren’t expected to be significant, they will be enough to make driving a bit of a challenge.

The next system, forecast to cross over the Avalon and eastern portions of the island tomorrow, is also forecast to bring heavy rain at times, although the exact amounts won’t become clear until later today or earl
