ALFRED, Maine — Three former York County Jail corrections officers and an inmate have been indicted on misdemeanor charges involving an alleged money exchange.
In April, the York County Sheriff's Office received information that some officers may have accepted payments from an inmate, according to a press release sent Thursday from York County Chief William King.
"It appears investigators stymied the plot before any contraband entered the facility," King said. The York County Sheriff's Office Detectives Bureau handled the investigation.
Kayleigh Hamilton, Emma Kehoe, and Zarek Melick resigned from their positions during the investigation. Inmate Connor McGlone was transferred to the Maine State Prison, according to King.
All three corrections officers worked at the jail for about 18 mo
