Greenville fire crews quickly contained a residential blaze early this morning in the area of 9th Street after arriving to find the home fully engulfed in flames, officials said.
Units from Rescue 2, Engine 5, Rescue 7, and Command 1 initiated an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control within minutes. The home’s occupant escaped and suffered minor burns to the ear. No other injuries were reported. A neighboring house sustained heat damage.
Preliminary indications suggest the fire may have originated from a space heater, though the official cause remains under investigation.
Officials thanked first responders for their swift work and urged residents to use heating equipment safely as colder weather sets in.
