Tesla is recalling more than 10,000 Powerwall 2 home batteries sold in the U.S. after nearly two dozen confirmed incidents of the units overheating, emitting smoke, or catching fire.

The U.S. recall comes just months after Tesla recalled Powerwall 2 batteries in Australia following reports of fires.

In the Australian recall, the battery cells inside the Powerwalls were manufactured by an unnamed third-party supplier. Tesla did not immediately reply to a question about which company manufactured the cells covered by the U.S. recall.

Altogether, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) said five Powerwalls have caught fire, resulting in minor property damage, and another six started smoking. The remaining 11 overheated. Electrek first reported the news.
