CHARLESTON — Three fresh new faces are set to join City Council in January.

After big wins on Nov. 4, Aaron Polkey and Ben D'Allesandro, both 45, unseated two elder statesmen in neighboring districts on Charleston’s peninsula. They will join Leslie Skardon, 35, who triumphed over two other female challengers to represent James Island, bringing a generation shift to the council.

None have waited until they are sworn in on Jan. 13 to get to work. All three sat down for interviews with The Post and Courier since the election, and each spoke with an eagerness and urgency about changes they’d like to see in their respective districts.
