BERWICK, La. —
Two inmates escaped custody in Berwick, Louisiana, Wednesday and are being sought.
According to the Berwick Police Department, on Wednesday, around 10:12 p.m., inmates Brandon Brunet and Cecil Michael Stratton escaped custody of the jail. Advertisement
Police say during lockdown procedures, a "struggle" happened between Stratton and the officers.
During the struggle, a "chemical substance" was thrown into an officer's face, allowing Stratton and Brunet to leave the jail.
Brunet was taken into custody, but Stratton remains on the run, according to police.
Police say Stratton is known to have violent tendencies and has previously escaped from a prison facility in North Louisiana.
