A pregnant dog was found abandoned and tied to a sign while giving labor in Waterbury and police said none of her puppies survived.
Someone contacted Waterbury police around 8:12 a.m. on Sunday to report that a dog had been left tied to a sign the area of Cherry Street and police found a pregnant pit bull in labor, police said.

BARC CT, a nonprofit animal rescue, took custody of the pit bull and provided her emergency treatment, but none of her puppies survived, police said.
The dog is now in the care of a private foster home and is reported to be healing well.
