HONOLULU (Island News) -- Two men were indicted by an Oahu grand jury for property scams that targeted homeowners in an attempt to steal residential properties.
Eldon Simer, 41, and Guy Villanueva, 30, face multiple charges for an alleged scheme to steal residential properties by forging and recording fake deeds. The duo then sold or attempted to sell their fraudulent interest in those residential properties to unsuspecting buyers.
Simer and Villanueva targeted innocent Oahu homeowners by forging real property deeds and by recording these forged deals, they exploited the state of Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances, according to Attorney General Anne Lopez.
