Yet another weather system bringing the usual pattern of strong winds and heavy rain is forecast for this evening and overnight.

Winds are forecast to pick up over the east coast of the island through this afternoon, with rainfall expected to start late this afternoon or early this evening.

Environment Canada meteorologist Veronica Sullivan says a wind warning is in effect for overnight tonight with winds gusting up to 80 km/h and 100 km/h along the coast “and then this evening, or late this afternoon and into this evening, we get some of that rain coming in with that other system.”

“In terms of rainfall amounts, it’s generally for the Avalon, we’re looking at around 10 to 25 mm of rain for the Avalon Peninsula, perhaps a bit less for the Bonavista Peninsula, maybe around the 10 to 15 m
