Former Newfoundland and Labrador premier Andrew Furey has waived cabinet confidence for a report Premier Tony Wakeham says will aid an independent review into the Churchill Falls memorandum of understanding.

Wakeham wrote an open letter to Furey on Thursd ay re questing access to the final report of the 2041 Churchill River management expert panel.

The panel was formed in 2022 as a recommendation by the Muskrat Falls commission of inquiry to help prepare the provincial government for when its contract with Hydro-Québec expires. The deal was set to expire in 2041 but a new agreement wa s proposed in December of 2024 .
