Cal Fire has issued evacuation orders for parts of Mono County due to what officials describe as an “immediate threat to life.” The Pack Fire, discovered Thursday, Nov. 13, has scorched 3,400 acres and remains 0% contained as of Friday morning, Nov. 14.
The blaze is burning roughly 15 miles southeast of Mammoth Mountain, a popular ski destination, and has already damaged 15 structures while threatening an additional 30, according to Cal Fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
