Members of the Canadian Armed Forces received a pay raise today.
The increase, retroactive to April 1st, was deposited directly into members’ bank accounts today.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the pay increases in August.
They include an 8 per cent raise for those ranked colonel and above, 13 per cent for lieutenant-colonels and below, and 20 per cent for privates in the regular force.
The prime minister also announced a new military service pay benefit specifically tied to the amount of time spent in service.
The charges were made to help boost recruitment and retention in the Canadian Armed Forces.
