BOROUGHWIDE— STARTUP BREKLAND OF Brooklyn has been chosen as the grand-prize winner of the seventh annual Grow-NY business competition, Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Thursday, Nov. 13.

The competition, which ran Nov. 12-13, awarded a total of $3 million in prize money – including the $1 million grand prize – to seven of the 20 finalists selected for the Grow-NY business accelerator. During the Grow-NY Summit, held in Canandaigua (near Rochester), finalists pitched their business plans to a panel of expert judges with expertise in agriculture, food production and venture development.

Brekland produces foams for crop protection, such as to prevent frost damage, and other climate/sustainable products related to farming and agriculture.
