OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Low-income families caught in the middle of political battles in Washington, D.C. that just got their SNAP benefits reinstated now have a new concern.

President Donald Trump is now proposing to cut funds for housing the homeless and low-income families.

The Omaha Housing Authority provides homes to thousands of low-income families in our community.

President Trump is proposing to cut billions of dollars nationwide to shrink the Housing and Urban Development budget. That would take dollars away from the Section 8 program and a program which provides housing for the homeless.

That proposal concerns Omaha Housing Authority CEO Joanie Balk.
