In the three weeks since the Legault government forced through its contentious overhaul of physician pay, nearly 400 Quebec doctors have applied to practise elsewhere in Canada.

Using figures from provincial licensing colleges, there has been a significant rise in applications from Quebec beginning Oct. 23, which was two days before the law, Bill 2, was passed under closure.

In total so far, 377 Quebec doctors have applied for licences outside the province. These include: 296 applications to Ontario, 80 to New Brunswick, and one to Saskatchewan.

Meanwhile, British Columbia has confirmed five since the beginning of October, which pushes the number to at least 382 since October.
