ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The City of St. Louis approved three different tornado relief measures on Friday, as hundreds of families continue rebuilding their lives nearly six months after the May 16 tornado devastated neighborhoods in north St. Louis.
The Board of Aldermen approved, and the mayor signed, three bills appropriating the relief funds. More than $3 million will go toward winter shelters, and over $9 million will go toward tornado-resident housing assistance. The funding will also support home repairs and other critical services for those whose homes were severely damaged.
Disparities are emerging from house to house as some families complete repairs while others still wait for resources to make permanent fixes to their damaged homes.
