New Jersey Devils superstar Jack Hughes has reportedly been sidelined with a fluke hand injury suffered during a team dinner Thursday night.
The NHL team said Hughes is out with a “non-hockey” hand injury and is being evaluated.
“We will provide an update as available,” the Devils said in a post to social-media platform X on Friday.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that it’s believed that Hughes slipped and cut his hand while at the dinner in what sources are calling a “fluke accident.”

Hughes is not expected to play Saturday against the Washington Capitals. The timeline for his return was not immediately clear.
Hughes had come out of the gate flying this season with 10 goals and 20 points in 17 games, helping the Devil
