MADISON (WKOW) — As winter approaches, snow shoveling becomes a concern, especially for seniors. Recent budget cuts have left a Madison-area nonprofit, NewBridge, in need of volunteers for its senior snow shoveling services.

"When older adults try to shovel their snow, they can fall easily, and when they ignore the problem, when they ignore the ice, it's hard for them to even leave their house," said David Wilson, the Marketing and Volunteer Services Manager at NewBridge.

Seniors who cannot shovel their snow may feel isolated, but NewBridge's 'Snow Angels' program can help alleviate this.

"That older adult kind of gets excited for their volunteer to come visit with them. So it helps with the snow, but also helps with their isolation," said Wilson.
