In the wake of Major League Baseball promising to regulate prop bets following scandals involving Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz, Governor Mike DeWine now is calling for other sports to do the same.
On Friday’s Today in Ohio podcast episode , hosts discussed whether the scandals are proof that the system is working exactly as intended when states began legalizing sports betting.
The discussion kicked off with Lisa Garvin explaining DeWine’s position: “In a Wednesday interview, Governor DeWine is asking the National Football League and other major sports leagues to restrict micro prop bets just like major league Baseball did earlier this week. He says we need to rein it in now before more player scandals occur.”
DeWine initially called for a complete ban on prop bets
