MARION, Iowa (KCRG) - A Cedar Rapids man was charged with attempted murder Thursday in connection to a local hotel shooting last month .

37-year-old Phillip Phelps faces charges of attempted murder and firearm possession as a felon in connection to a shooting at the Sleep Inn on Dyer Avenue in Marion last month.

He also faces charges of willful injury and domestic abuse. His brother, 39-year-old Stephan Phelps, is charged with accessory after the fact.

Marion police responded to the hotel just before 4:30 a.m. on October 19.

Officers found a woman who had been shot multiple times in the wrist and legs. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
