A man has been arrested following a four-hour siege, in which he allegedly kept three people hostage on the New South Wales South Coast.
Police were called to a home on Holloway Road, South Nowra, shortly before 7pm on Friday, following reports that a man had forced his way in with an axe.
Officers say the 24-year-old man stopped a 53-year-old woman and two 49-year-old men from leaving.
Three other women were able to flee before police arrived.
Specialist police from the Tactical Operations Unit stormed the home at 11:15pm and arrested the man.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics for lower-body injuries before being taken to Shoalhaven Hospital under police guard.
