A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed on the westbound 35th Avenue on-ramp of Loop 101 in Glendale, according to officials.
The pedestrian, identified as Vincente Castellanos Rodriguez, 64, was struck while crossing the on-ramp at 35th Avenue in an attempt to reach the construction site on the north shoulder of Loop 101, Raul Garcia with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.
Rodriguez was assigned by a local construction company to make improvements to areas of Loop 101, according to Garcia.
Rodriguez was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries, Garcia said.
The driver of the vehicle was not cited and is not facing any charges, Garcia said. What we know: Here's where Phoenix-area freeway road work is planned this weekend
