DEXTER -- Food insecurity is a challenge for many in Maine. Those in Dexter are hoping to ease that struggle by providing grocery essentials to over 50 families.
"The response has been overwhelming, and we're just so grateful that everyone has chipped in and helped out. It really is going to make a huge difference in many families' lives," explained Laura Gordon, Executive Director of the Heart of Maine Resource Center.
The resource center hosts monthly food distributions across the community. November's effort revealed an unprecedented need for support.
"We ran out of food in our first hour of distribution and still had another 40 or 50 cars lined up after that," Gordon explained.
