The United States President has announced he will repeal tariffs on products including Australia’s largest US export, in a sweeping backdown.
Donald Trump signed an order on Saturday morning, Australian time, reducing US tariffs on agriculture imports including beef.
Other imports swept up in the change include bananas, coffee, tea, oranges, fruit juices and tropical fruits, and tomatoes, as voters and Democrats pressured the administration to deal with rising costs of living.
The products have become exempt from his “reciprocal” tariff rule.
On April 2, he announced the sweeping tariff structure to address “unfair” trade settings between the US and the world while his administration looked to address issues in domestic production capacity.
