SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Southern Maine Community College celebrated a major athletic milestone Friday as the women’s softball team was honored for winning a national championship in May.
The Seawolves secured the title with a 10-0 victory over Florida National University and were recognized Friday with their official championship rings.
Co-captains Sarah Wilkins and Emily Hutchins said the win continues to motivate them both on and off the field.
"I definitely, you know, use that drive. I did that, so now I can do this, and I use that in my daily life all the time, like pitching. I always push myself to be more because I want to do it again, and if I don't, I'm still pushing myself every day to get better,” Wilkins said.
