MAINE, USA — The Maine Office of Community Affairs announced about $550,000 in grants to help coastal communities prepare for storms, flooding, and other climate-related risks.
The money comes through two state programs, the Shore and Harbor Planning Grant and the Coastal Community Grant, both supported by federal funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
According to the state, individual applicants can apply for up to $50,000, while group applicants can seek up to $75,000. The grants can help towns study long-term coastal risks, plan or design stronger infrastructure, improve access to the coast, and update local planning rules to reduce future damage.
