TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is still facing overflow despite the adoption of dozens of dogs in the past 24 hours. Staff say the shelter remains overcapacity, with several dogs on a deadline to be euthanized.
Over 80 dogs have found permanent or foster homes since yesterday, PACC staff said. However, nearly 50 dogs were taken in over the same period.
Marci Lilly, a resident of Peoria, drove over two and a half hours to meet her newly adopted dog Samara for the first time.
"I'm very excited to meet her," Lilly said.
Lilly found Samara online and adopted her not only to rescue her but also to save other dogs at the shelter.
"If you can adopt or foster it would be life saving literally," Lilly said.
