PHOENIX — A man has life-threatening injuries after being shot in Phoenix, according to the city's police department.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. near 27th Avenue and I-17. When officers got to the scene, they found an adult man who had been shot at least once.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, police said.

The area was shut down as detectives responded to take over the investigation, according to police. No other details were released, and the department said additional information remains part of the ongoing investigation.
