Sierra snow levels drop as two storms hit Northern California

Northern California’s weather reverses the SoCal pattern: Saturday is mostly dry, then significant rain returns Sunday and Monday as the first system departs SoCal and rides north. The second system brings heavy overnight rain late Sunday into early Monday, targeting the Sacramento Valley and Bay Area. Meanwhile, the Sierra will see notable snowfall, with snow levels falling from 9000 ft Saturday night to 6000 ft Monday. Chain controls will be possible on I-80, US-50, and Highway 88. Winds increase Saturday night into Sunday with gusts 25–35 mph. Monday’s morning commute could be soaked.
